playing dress up

i am not a really girly girl. granted, i have my moments; i can rock some pumps and i'm a big fan of finding new ways to highlight my eyes and lips. but i was never the little girl in ruffles and bows (my mom tried and was met with intense resistance) and i haven't actually worn makeup in months.

but i am having big fun playing dress up with my babyboy. really...big...fun.

it can be a challenge, so many boys clothes are emblazoned with sports icons or just varying shades of blue and we've made an effort to avoid both stereotypical fashion styles with our little one. we like originality in our home. but there are lots of ways to jazz up a little boy's wardrobe.

take, for example, leg warmers. yes, i said leg warmers. my little angel is in the middle with his orange legs just as toasty as can be.
tiny terror trio

i found these splendid little accessories on Amazon and i initially bought a few pair for my babyboy out of sheer amusement. lo and behold they are amazingly useful!

they are a sweet addition to an east coast winter wardrobe, even when out and about his legs stay warm during diaper changes, and they are just so funny! the first time i put them on the baby he was only wearing a onesie and i wanted desperately to put a little headband on him and dance him around singing "She's a maniac, maniac...!"

and making me feel even better about this purchase is that BabyLeg makes their adorable leg warmers out of organic cotton. fantastic.

so, maybe i didn't play dress up with my dolls much as a little girl. so, maybe i'm making up for lost time. but c'mon, i have to do this now before he's old enough to object. parental privilege.
